What is a Commercial EIC?

An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) is a legal document issued by the installing registered electrician upon completion of any new substantial electrical work in a commercial premises. It confirms that the installation was designed, constructed, and inspected in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition).

For commercial properties, an EIC covers single-phase and three-phase supplies, ensuring your business's electrical infrastructure is compliant, safe, and documented.

When is a Commercial EIC Required?

A commercial EIC is required for any of the following:

Full or partial rewiring of commercial premises.
Installation of a new consumer unit or distribution board.
Adding new circuits for equipment, machinery, or office expansion.
EV charger installation for commercial vehicles or staff parking.
3-phase supply upgrades or new 3-phase circuit installations.
New builds, fit-outs, or significant commercial refurbishments.

EIC Pricing — Single & 3-Phase

Commercial EIC pricing is based on your supply type (single-phase or three-phase) and total number of circuits across all consumer units. Minimum 5 circuits per consumer unit.

Single Phase

3-Phase

  • Per Consumer Unit£100
  • Per Circuit£25

Formula: (Consumer Units × per-unit rate) + (Total Circuits × per-circuit rate). Minimum 5 circuits per CU.
